An excerpt from Bill G’s autobiography
I love performing music!
Having played my first professional gig in a pit orchestra for Man of La Mancha at age 14, and going on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree, I taught Junior High and High School students to play music while I performed at night.
My 30 years of experience as a professional musician includes playing sax, clarinet and flute as a member of the Dallas Symphony Pops Orchestra, the Dallas Jazz Orchestra, the Fairmont Hotel Venetian Room Orchestra, the Dallas Summer Musicals Orchestra, Casa Manana Orchestra, the Dallas Playboy Club Orchestra, Hotel Intercontinental Malachite Showroom Orchestra, Granny’s Dinner Theater Orchestra, Yorick’s Showroom Orchestra, and performing at ballrooms around the country and with Dallas’ top party and society bands.
I have performed with Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Lou Rawls, The Spinners, Gladys Knight, Frankie Valli, Liberace, The Smothers Brothers, Captain and Tenille, Pearl Bailey, Milton Berle, Bob Hope, Mickey Rooney, Foster Brooks, Jack Jones, Joe Williams, Lena Horne, George Shearing, Yul Brynner, Florence Henderson, Carol Channing, Steve Lawrence, Edyie Gorme, and many others, as well as performing on numerous recording sessions, where the albums won Grammy and Dove awards. The musicians in my band have similar credentials.
My band performs a variety of music and vocals, in several styles, for special events, parties, dinners, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, dances and festivals. Our tune list includes pop songs, rock, ballroom, swing, jazz, country, latins and waltzes from the 40’s to the present.
